How to Make An Upcycled Jeweled Picture Frame

Want to make something unique but simple to make?
Want to make something you can't buy at a store?
Want to create something that looks very chic and expensive?
Want to make an economical, one-of-a kind, usable item?
Want to have lots of fun?

This is how you can make a gorgeous, jeweled picture frame with bits & pieces of broken, unwearable and unwanted jewelry.

Gather up all of the odd pieces of jewelry, broken necklaces, beads, single earrings, charms, pendants and whatever else you have in your jewelry box and drawers and recycle them into a beautiful piece of eye candy!

Not only will you feel better reducing some clutter, but you will have so much fun with this project!

Find an old picture frame that you have hiding somewhere, or make a trip to the thrift shop and pick up a wood frame of any size you like. The flat wood frames do best, but any type will do.

This is so much fun! You can arrange the pieces by colors and styles, but the fun in this project is to just let loose and start gluing! There is no pattern, no color charts or rules. You will be amazed at how creative you get as you glue each piece on.

What You Will Need:

  1. Picture Frame
  2. Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
  3. Bits & Pieces of Jewelry
  4. Small Wire Snippers & Scissors if Needed
That's it! Oh, and your imagination!

I like to make these at my kitchen table, but any table will work.

  1. Wipe off the picture frame with a damp cloth to remove any dust or lingering dirt.
  2. Plug in the glue gun.
  3. Bring all of the jewelry pieces you found and lay them out on the table.
  4. Pick up one piece, any piece and place anywhere on the front of the picture frame.
  5. Glue this piece on the frame.
  6. Keep gluing pieces all over until the entire frame is covered. You will know when it is finished.
  7. Look at the beautiful piece that you have created!
  8. Admire your handiwork.
  9. Enjoy the satisfaction and accomplishment you feel.
  10. Put a favorite photo in the frame, place the frame anywhere you would like.

Congratulations! You have now recycled clutter into a beautiful piece of usable art! Your jewelry box and drawers are neater, you have saved the jewelry from the garbage heap, and you have given the broken and unwearable jewelry a new life. And most importantly, you had a lot of fun doing it

I created this picture frame with mostly single earrings and broken beads. I used a pair of small wire snippers to clip off the backs of post, pierced, and clip on earrings. You can find these at any hobby or craft store.

TIP: Got more loose buttons than anyone will ever need? You can use those too! Glue on a button and maybe glue a bead or bobble on top of the button in a contrasting color. Looks great!
